Is it too late to Invest with Bernie Madoff?

I realize that it’s a foolish investment, but still . . . is there any way to make a small investment at this point and get the right to be heard in the bankruptcy proceeding?

Is there any secondary market for these invesments?

Even if this were a serious question, investors are unsecured creditors and are at the back of the herd in bankruptcy proceedings.

Not a chance.

By the way, this is a serious question. Look, it’s not unheard of for people to buy a small amount of stock in some corporation so that they can go to the annual shareholder meeting and say whatever they feel they have to say.

True enough, but Mr. Madoff didn’t run a stock corporation, it was a private investment fund whose membership was by invitation only. Unlike shares of stock, accounts in such a fund are not generally transferable.

Madoff ran a Pyramid scheme. Therefore you can give him a small amount of money so that you can go to the trial and be a witness about how he stole your money. :smack:

There are no shares and there will be no shareholder meetings. As freido said, it was an investment firm, not a corporation. And it no longer exists. Madoff took money to invest in other peoples’ corporations. His firm wasn’t worth $50 billion; his investments were. They seem to all be gone, paid out to earlier investors. Everybody still there has lost every penny they still had on account.

That’s why I assumed this wasn’t a serious question. It’s like asking if you can invest in a black hole.

So let me get this straight. You want to invest in a bankrupt, fraudulent investment firm so that you can sue him later? :dubious:

One good scam deserves another…
