My age? Let’s just say at least one of those gymnasts is the same age as me (to the year)
I agree that some of them look like they are 13. Most of those are on the romanian or other eastern-european teams. Freakishly small. I’m not amazed by those ones in that way, just that they are able to tumble and spin in mid air like catherine wheels. Damn impressive to watch. But on the western teams (USA, UK, Canada etc…) the girls look their age, and have developed, ahem, breasts.
So a girl with a developed figure (including the breasts) is performing amazing feats of physical perfection in a sexy leotard on TV, how can any red-blooded male not be transfixed?
P.S. The college gymnasts are too developed. They are big and that is not my thing.
P.P.S TV tends to disguise the actual height of the girls. If I were to meet one in person I’d probably be surprised how small they are.
So far I’ve held back but now I just have to say it…
I think olympic gymnasts are og-damn fucking amazing creatures. I think they are a league above all other olympic athletes. They make all other olympic sports/athletes look like ordinary humans with boring sporting talents. Heck they’re a league above all other human beings and animals. I look at one and can’t help see perfection in every inch of their bodies. I just love them! They are my only reason for watching the olympics. It depresses me to see them and then think of myself, a fat 25 year old who let himself go many years ago. I sooo long to have a skill that can impress one of those brilliant elite perfect athletes.
I am fascinated by the mental and physical capabilites of a human being, and gymnasts push those capabilities to their limits.
I’ve been awestruck by gymnasts ever since I first saw them perform.
Why not just lust after the one your age, Svetlana, she’s probably the most unique. She looks very tall compared to all the others and she has legs up to there.
In the “olden days”, most of the women gymnasts were actual women. Vera Caslavska was all of 22 years old when she won various golds in Mexico in 68, and Ludmilla Tourischeva must have been late teens/early 20s at Munich in 1972 (i.e. I cannot find her date of birth anywhere).
The Factotrix and her youngest daughter were gymnasts. Last night they kept calling each other after each of Svetlana’s routines - they both were routing for her to fall apart like in Sydney 4 years ago. Me, I like her. Reminds me of Uma Thurman.
And even though she looks freakishly tall compared to the rest of the women, they tell me she’s only 5 ft 5" tall. (what’s that in metric, 160 cm?)
I’m totally smitten by Carly Patterson. What a combination of cold-blooded competitive focus and classic teenaged goofiness; she’s perfect. And that smile - buy stock in whoever makes Wheaties, folks.
Funny thing, I’ve assumed all along that her coach was this outlandishly tall guy - he towers over her! It wasn’t until this morning that I found out she’s only 4-foot-9 - he’s just a normal-sized guy. Duh.
But *all * the gymnasts, with the exception of Svetlana, are about the same size. Without some frame of reference, watching them on TV is like watching “Bugsy Malone”. Now I’m imagining all the apparatus as being about the height of a coffee table. . .
They are beautiful and I find that I’m mesmerized by both the male and female gymnist. I don’t feel any sexual attraction towards the females, even the ones over 18, because they just don’t look like what I think of a mature feminine figure.
According to this article (“Are women reclaiming gymnastics from the pixies?”), the minimum age for competition was raised to 16 in 1996. I did not know that. That brings the average up.
Lobsang: Thank you. Your last post re: perfect human specimens is exactly how I have felt about gymnasts. They’re the only sport I mean to watch at the Olympics; I only watch the other stuff because they interrupt gymnastics for it.
They’re short because they have purposely stunted their growth. It creeps me out that people consider female gymnists an ideal female form, because they’re not. I can’t watch female gymnastics without seeing little children who have mutilated their bodies. There’s a reason Kerri Strug’s ankle snapped like a twig.
Give me Mia Hamm any day. She’s beautiful, she’s gone through puberty, and she can perform in events that last longer than 30 seconds.
His thoughts are criminal? :dubious: They are all over 16 which is above the age of consent in all the states I know including the one I live in so the act wouldn’t be criminal either. Creepy? Goddam right its creepy.
I think a “normal” person would likely have bones snapping like twigs if they attempted any of those gymnastic stunts.
So how do they purposely stunt themselves? I’m 4’10" and I was born with the genes for this, some childhood illnesses may have contributed but I know I am not alone in being naturally short.
Still I’ve noticed that most of the American girls all seem to have the same body shape. Short and somewhat stocky, not fat but highly muscular, especially the legs. Then you see other countries gymnasts, like China, and they are just small and proportional. And then you see someone like Svetlana Khorkina who is tall (in comparison) and thin, yet being almost 10 years older than some of them she can still keep up. But she’s a rarity. So it does make you wonder why the American girls seem so different. They can’t be taking steroids because they test for that, so is it just the training or what?
Yeah, but IIRC, there was a recent law (perhaps it was just proposed, the “Anti-Sex Tourist” Law) passed making it illegal for US citizens to have sex on foreign soil with people less than 18.
