The Browns have admitted to “textgate” and they’ll get what’s coming. They’re an incredibly inept organization for either 1) not knowing the rules or 2) blatantly ignoring the rules. That, along with deflategate, have nothing to do with Jerry Rice. (Are we calling this “stickumgate?”)
Stickghazi.
I do hereby denounce texting, illegal use of stick’em and any other forms of cheating that ElvisL!ves somehow thinks makes the Patriots be less cheaty.
Boy that was anti-climatic. Here I was thinking Elvis had some big reveal that would show some level of hypocrisy, but instead it’s the usual “everyone is doing it” crap that Patriots fans seem so desperate to believe means something.
I don’t. I highly endorse every form of cheating. In fact, we need more rules enacted specifically so that they are flouted, repeatedly and with great gusto, by every participant at every level. (Front office, facilities folks, players (obviously), even fans!)
So the Patriots don’t get to feel so special. ![]()
No, it’s the existence of evidence, including confessions, for those things that makes it so. Counselor.
The big reveal will be when - okay, if, but you know it’s when - the deflation scandal will be shown in the NFL report to have been a childish frame-up attempt by the Colts. The hypocrisy matter is already settled.
No, everyone is not doing it. But you save your vitriol for those who aren’t, not for those the evidence and even confessions point to. IOW, cut the shit about it being cheating that boils your bile, okay?
I think most of us can agree on two things:
- The Patriots were good enough in their own right that they’d probably still have won multiple Super Bowls, cheating or not cheating. Videotaping or not, deflating or not, the Patriots have been an exceptionally formidable team since 2001. It’s a relatively insignificant factor.
- Cheating is ***not ***okay just because “everyone else is doing it.” We certainly wouldn’t buy such an argument from a politician, lawyer or government official, so why should we let sports teams or athletes get away with this sort of logic?
As a matter of personal preference, I’m glad the Pats beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
With that out of the way, the above assertion seems a bit, um… goofy?
Frame-up? Did the Colts let air out of the balls to blame it on New England? Or how else exactly does one think this is a frame up?
OK. There was evidence, confessions, and punishment for illegally videotaping opponents signals by the Patriots.
Are we done, or do you have some other idiotic point to try, and fail, to make?
And they got appropriately punished for it. Eight years ago, as you conveniently fail to acknowledge.
Are you ready to acknowledge which of us is defending the principle of all teams following the rules and being judged based on the evidence, and which is indulging in nothing, nothing more than blind support and/hatred of a team? Hmm :dubious: ?
Some of your fellow sufferers of Belichick Derangement Syndrome have apparently recognized their condition, and have begun to deal with it by slinking away silently, and hoping their indignant cries for lifetime suspensions and banning from Super Bowls and asterisks and such simply get forgotten. In time, that might even happen, *if *they can show they have come to understand just what they have said and done and grow from the experience. You might consider following their lead, before the derisive howls from the rest of us get even louder.
The most recent info from the NFL investigation is that 11 of the 12 balls were “a few ticks” under the limit, while 1 was a full 2 psi under. Hard to explain that difference by either physics or by manipulation by the Pats - unless you also consider that that was the ball Jackson intercepted, the only one the Colts touched.
BTW I’m asking about Jerry Rice in part because he’s been one of the loudest, most pious Patriot haters.
You have DNA or something off the ball?
Certainly. I am more than ready to acknowledge that, based on the evidence, the Patriots cheated by illegally taping signals.
I’ll tell you what. Why don’t you go ahead and find the post where I called for a lifetime suspension or banning from the Super Bowl for the Patriots for deflategate?
Or, if you can’t, how about you shut the fuck up and stop pretending I said things I didn’t. Unfortunately, I know you well enough that shutting the fuck up isn’t in your wheelhouse, and God knows you can’t stop lying about what I said, so I won’t be holding my breath.
Not for me. There’ve been some GREAT WRs in the N.F.L. but for my money Jerry Rice is the absolute G.O.A.T. To have played as long as he did and to have accomplished all that he accomplished…When I see other WRs play the gold standard for me is still Jerry Rice (and, no, I’m not from San Francisco although I was a BIG fan of the Niners in that era).
