Watched the 8 out of 10 cats Does Countdown episodes featuring Josie Long (from 2014) and found her obnoxiously self-absorbed and smug*. Is that just a stage persona (ala Stephen Colbert), or is she really like that?
Watch or read several interviews with her:

Wow. Horses for courses, but I love Josie and her sort of uncoordinated enthusiasm.
I too find her smug to the point of unbearable. It is probably just the way she speaks but her tone seems patronising and dismissive of those who don’t share her outlook. Particularly her political views.
I have no doubt she’s a perfectly nice person in real life but the performances I’ve seen of her don’t appeal to me.
One thing to notice on her EOOTCDC appearance is that she essentially just plays the game; she forgets to even try to be entertaining.
If it was all part of her act, then she was far too meta for me or the audience. The simpler explanation is she was more or less being her natural self.
If all this makes it sound like I hate her, in fact it’s the opposite. Something about her voice and mannerisms makes her very likeable / attractive to me.
I like her too. She reminds me of the earnest University students of my youth. She’s not a typical comedian so much as an insightful wry observer. I find her enthusiastic personality oddly charming.
Thanks, Mijin and Novelty Bobble. I’ll go ahead and add her to my mental list of ‘not for me’ comedians.
For her fans, I’m basing my opinion solely on her 2 appearances on cats countdown in 2014, where she was improbably similar to a cliche. She may do better in a solo act.
