Bingo. When my old dog wants to howl, he looks to me for permission. We often let them run in the field across from our house - either could easily escape if they wished to, but always return for treats/ So it is voluntary employment. Which isn’t a metaphor for our second dog. She’s a guide dog breeder, whose job it is to have a litter a year.
