I wonder what Lanna is in this case. Lanna, or sometimes Lan Na, was the name of an old Siamese kingdom in present-day northern Thailand and maybe parts of Laos. The name literally means “1 million rice fields,” reflecting its relative wealth. It did not include any of Burma.
