Is president Bush killing the reputation of the USA ?

I wasn’t making any comparison between them, I was making a comparison between them individually and the US. I do think that the US is a better superpower than Britain was. I think the British empire was out and out racist. I think that US policy, in general is much less racist than the British empire’s, however, it is a different time.

Erek

Fair enough point, mswas.

(But we gave them railroads and beaurocracy! ;))

I had more respect for the US under Clinton not because he was morally upright, strong visionary leader, but because he did a decent job compared to the Bush administration.

I don’t see Bush as representing the whole of the US democratically - after that funny shit with the votes in Florida I was highly suspicious. His complete ignorance of foreign affairs turned suspicion into disbelief. His "unilateral"approach to foreign policy turned disbelief into apprehension. When I discovered that he had been a player in the oil market my apprehension solidified - this man was only elected to rubber stamp whatever policy the WTC and multinationals wanted to push through.

So he has definately brought the US down in my estimation even though it was no paragon of virtue before.
