I’ve never really taken a position on Sarah Palin one way or another. Though I would vote for her before I would vote for John McCain, even she could not get me to vote for their ticket in '08 simply because McCain was on it.
What I do love is how nuts she makes liberals. I haven’t seen this much ire since Reagan. Libbys are scared to death of her because, IMHO, she could actually become President and push this country back to the right where it belongs.
Having nothing overly substantial to fling at her the left, as usual, resorts to name calling:
“She’s stupid” “she’s an idiot” “she’s a moron” etc., etc…
But guess what? This is exactly the same thing they did to Ronald Reagan in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Entire newscasts were dedicated to discussing if Reagan was intelligent enough to be President. The left routinely bombarded us with accusations of what a dumbass he was.
It turned out he was so stupid he could only manage to get elected POTUS twice in 2 insignificant electoral landslides.:smack:
Palin. Because Ronnie actually accomplished something with his life before running for POTUS. He was a shit president and modern conservatives don’t even understand his positions or policies, but he wasn’t a complete twat.
As an aside, the reason I don’t like Palin isn’t that I’m afraid of her. I’m afraid that there actually is a large enough chunk of the country who is stupid enough to support her.

You means that’s not my honest opinion? Strange, I thought it was. I guess in the future I should consult with myself before proclaiming something is my opinion.
Neither are or were towering intellects but Reagan struck me as more pragmatic, more likely to know his own limitations and that is a form of intelligence that Palin doesn’t seem to have.
I don’t think Sarah Palin knows how stupid she is and that doesn’t just make her thick, it makes her dangerous.
And I speak not as a US citizen but as a concerned member of the western world. She is bad news and I am hopeful that enough sober and intelligent people over the pond will tell her to get f’d.
I’m libertarian (small “l”), not conservative. I have no particular love for Ronald Reagan. I will grant that he was smart enough when it came to choosing subordinates who would carry out the plans he wished them to. Further, he apparently had a gift for choosing subordinates who were willing and able to absorb all the fire when those plans were unpopular with the general public. James Watt and Ed Meese particularly come to mind for filling that role while Ron devoted himself to appearing likable and folksy. They didn’t call him “the teflon President” for nothing.
I’ve seen no evidence that Sarah Palin possesses any similar talent for choosing subordinates. I feel neither the fawning affection of the conservatives nor the frothing hatred of the liberals for her. She’s just another GOP politician to me.
The fair thing to do would be to compare Reagan’s record before becoming president with Palin’s. How skillfully, intelligently, and successfully did Reagan handle the governorship of California, compared to Palin’s governing Alaska?
At least Reagan came out of California governorship. Palin escapes Wasilla, a hot bed of world politics, to quit as Alaskan Governor. What the hell kind of resume is that?
It is amazing that anybody could take her seriously. But righties are able to swallow huge amounts of garbage in order to defend her. She brings nothing but the special entitled attitude that so many pretty girls get.
This is absolutely 100% right! Please, pkbites, I beg you, when 2012 rolls around, please do not declare any support whatsoever for Sarah Palin. ‘Cos she terrifies us lefties. A Palin ticket would be an unstoppable political juggernaut impervious to attack and which would mercilessly rout all opposition in its relentless, momentum-driven journey to the White House. Yessir. Absolutely. So don’t support her. Because she is in absolutely no way a pin-headed, provincial, God-boggled simpleton.
Consider this:
Obama is said to be a top graduate of the Harvard Law School (he was editor of the law review).
Curiously, no one seems to have any record of anything he authored while on the review.
As for his professional career-he was a “community organizer”-can someone define what he did in that capacity?
Aside from a part-term Illinois senator, what elective office did he hold?
I remember his pronouncements upon the “57 US states”-perhaps his grasp of US geography is not too great?
He does read well (from a teleprompter)-I’ll grant you that!
“That’s what they said about…” isn’t much of an argument. If you think SP would make a better president than anyone else, you have to show what she has to offer. You can’t just say, “liberals were wrong about Reagan, therefore the opposite of what Palin’s opponents say about her is true”.
