I was listening to the radio the other day when Joe Jackson’s “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” was played. But…something wasn’t quite right.
When he sings, “Look over there!”, someone used to shout “Where?”. Instead of the “Where?”, there’s a short guitar slide.
What happened to the “Where?”. Was the song remixed so Joe Jackson wouldn’t have to share his countless millions with the poor “Where?” guy?
Where is the “Where?” guy now?
I don’t know where the “where” guy is, but what you have there is the Sugar Ray remake of the song.
I love that song. I always tap my son on the appropriate moment and point. First few times, he said “Where” at the exactly right moment.
Then he stopped falling for it.
Not sure about the Joe Jackson one, but I’ve noticed that classic rock radio is playing re-mastered versions of a lot of stuff and it sounds really different than the original. One example I can think of off the top of my head is The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy. They really fucked that one up trying to make it sound “hotter”.
