I’ve seen a couple of ads for AI on TV. Those few seconds at the end of movie trailers, where they show the names of the major actors, the director, and a few other credits-- you know what I’m talking about. Anyway, some of them are red and flashing. But the problem is, it all happens so fast, I can’t see which letters are red and what, if anything, it all means.
So, is this some sort of [President Bush]subliminable[/President Bush] message from Mr. Speilberg? What does it mean? And why do I feel the sudden urge to buy the Shindler’s List DVD, even though I don’t own a DVD player?
He is. I read an article about hits, but I can’t find it at the moment. It also includes an 800 number that you can call and it’ll have a message for you, a la Magnolia.
The name highlighted in the ads is the name of a woman. Run the name through most any search engine and it’ll lead you to many fictional websites about the charatcer who is involved with the plot of the movie.
I don’t know much about it, but it’s supposedly a very involved and intricate 'net dealing… the woman’s name is Jeanine Salla… start with Google and go on from there. A whole lot of the conspiracy notes can be found from the user’s comments at Aint It Cool News.com
Her name is Jeanine Salla and she is listed in the trailer credit as “Sentient Machine Therapist”. Some of the sites which emerge are as follows:
http://www.familiasalla-es.ro/
http://www.inourimage.org/
http://www.unite-and-resist.org/
They all act as “real” websites, giving information on characters, institutions, organizations, and policy agendas regarding the advent of AIs and their “rights”. I’ve only scratched the surface, but the level of detail is impressive and they all have an authentict “feel” (for lack of a better word).
Apparently, for the hardcore fans, there is some sort of game involving the investigation of the death of a character under mysterious circumstances. Nothing is said about how this relates to the plot of the film, but presumably it’s there to establish context and a backstory (though not directly essential to the movie itself).

If you just want to get an overview of what this whole marketing campaign is about, that’s probably the best place to start. Saves you the trouble of having to find everything out for yourself.
.
If you buy the DVD for Schindler’s List (note the spelling), please let me know where you got it, as it’s not for sale.
I’ve heard about Jeanine Salla for a while now, and as excited as I am about AI, I’m waiting until after I see the movie before I check out any of those sites.

I noticed it on the 15th and played it for awhile but it is a huge undertaking. You have to know HTML, know enough about haking to be able to look at the source code of webpages and see the remnants of webpages behind them. Williing to call non toll free numbers in area codes all over America. And the worst part of it was that at 1month some stuff was already gone and changed. It was fun and wierd but you’re alraedy almost two months late into the game. It is a huge undertaking to solve the murder, you’d need to take a LOT of notes to solve it. But it’s cool.
The game takes place in real time, in that pages that you have visited before will change as new data is added as time goes on.
I think the game probably will remain unsolvable until after the premiere. BTW the game has absolutely nothing to do with the movie as I understand it, they merely take place in the same universe. Kinda like Voyager and DS9.
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Spielberg’s okayed a Special Edition DVD of it, and it’s supposed to be out by December.
