My post, after I posted and I was back at the Forum page for Cafe Society, says I posted it at 8:06 pm.
I thought the Atomic Doper Clock was set to Chicago Time, no? If so, how’d I lose an hour? Where did the last hour go to ? And why am I covered in seaweed ???
Seriously- shouldn’t the timestamp in my post on the Forum page have read 9:06pm ? I ask only because there are those…well, yanno, “those” moments when Dopers adamantly insist that their post predates another post, sometimes by mere minutes.
The “I just posted” in the OP obviously doesn’t refer to the OP itself, since, at the time he was writing it, he hadn’t yet posted it. Presumably, that refers to some other post, and he spent 12 minutes noticing that something was odd and composing the OP of this thread.
At a guess, Cartooniverse, you have a time zone setting mis-set somewhere. Whenever I read the board, it always tells me times in my own mountain time, and Shoshona is apparently seeing times displayed for her in Pacific time. Perhaps the board’s time zone settings are based on Chicago time, and you entered “Chicago -1” instead of “Chicago +1”?
Yeah, betcha your SDMB timezone is set to the default. Check out UserCP / Edit Options and scroll to the bottom.
(I seem to have some occasional problems with DST, but for the most part the times make sense.) Adjust things to your zone, then reload a page. At the bottom it should say “The time now is” with the correct time in it, and post times will be displayed relative to you.
-twitch- So I’m 18 minutes out of synch with the universe. Does this make me a bad man? No !!!
Chronos ( who was clearly born to answer questions like this ) is correct of course. I started the OP and life got in the way. My bad, for not adjusting the text a bit. Sorry.
Lemme go and do what you suggested: visit my UserCP and edit the time zone. Harrumph. I’ll report back if it fixes this.
