Is the GED Test Hard?

I am a high school graduate (I am also a college graduate). Supposing I had a hair up my butt to go to the local Adult Ed night school to take the GED test… could a guy like me pass it without the class? Does yer standard high school education mean that you have the knowledge and the skills to pass this test?

And while we’re on the subject, what’s the GED test like? Are we talking 100 multiple choice questions? Several pages of multiple choice, T-F, essays, fill-in-the-blanks, etc.? Does it take several hours?

If you are the kind of person that forgets easily what they have studied in the last four years, then it’s not going to be easy. Still, I have reviewed the exams just out of curiosity, it doesn’t seem that hard, well, at least for a person like with a college degree. Still, anyone with a good high school education should be able to pass it without problems.

They are for the most part mutiple choice question. Here is a mathematic problem sample:

Like Chris Rock said, if four years of High School can be summarized to six months of study, GED can’t be that hard.

I took my GED test when I was seventeen. I took it and passed the first time with no pre-tests. I didn’t think it was hard at all and the only education I had was tenth grade and nine weeks of eleventh grade. Still, I know people who have been working on their GED for years and still can’t seem to pass it. I guess it’s all relative just like everything else.
Oh yeah, for the most part it was multiple choice, but I also had to write an essay.

I took the California High School Profiency Exam, which is the state version of the GED, at 15. I don’t remember exactly, but I believe it was a bunch of multiple choice questions and a simple essay question - they wanted your basic 8 sentence paragraph. I finished the test in about a third of the time allotted and passed.

I can’t imagine anybody with a degree - or even functionally literate with a grasp of basic math - failing this test.

I took the GED in New York State after only 4 years of school, 1st, 2nd, 9th, and 10th grades (was homeschool, never bothered to do any work)

I passed the GED with flying colors, If you’ve finished 9th grade you should be able to pass it easly.
