Is the NBA lockout seriously jeopardizing the 2011-'12 season?

Simple. just open the books and prove it. You can not claim you need to cut salaries because you are losing money and then refuse to prove it.

The owners have opened their books to the players. They have provided the tax records of all 30 teams along with the league’s records to the player’s association.

There is some debate about what those records say exactly (because accounting procedures are debatable) but the players have all the information that they need.

While I expect the owners are trying to put the worst possible face on things and trying to make it sound like excessive salaries are the root of all their problems, I think the current salary system is not sustainable.
