Hey, I’m as sorry as anyone that the esteemed Senator from Missouri died tragically just before the election. But they’re letting his name remain on the ballot! If he wins (and most polls say he will, a DEAD guy), the Governor of Missouri will appoint a successor, namely the late Senator’s wife.
Bet the Governor is Democratic, don’t you? And don’t you think the Seantor’s wife will be toeing the party line?
Shit, this is worse than Hillary Clinton, at least we know she has some brains and actually has to WIN her election.
I suppose the Missouri term will be for all 6 (YES, FUCKING SIX) years. Unelected, untried, in mourning, puppet of the fucking Democrats… GOD DAMN YOU FUCKERS, HAVE YOU NO SHAME? TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A NEWLY WIDOWED (2 weeks ago, was it) WOMAN FOR YOUR OWN POLITICAL GAIN? IS THERE NOT ANYONE ELSE IN MISSOURI TO STEP UP TO THE CHALLENGE AND WIN IT FAIRLY? WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH YOU ASSHOLES!!!
Uhhh…I thought she would hold the post for just 2 years, and then there would be another election. I do agree that she has no experience at all, and it will be more of a “puppet government” than has been seen in a long time here in the US.
I also do think it’s in poor taste to leave a dead candidate’s name on the ballot, to garner the obvious sympathy vote.
It’s too late to remove his name from the ballot. it’s not a matter of “letting” him stay. Per the state’s Constitution, it is the governor’s job to appoint a replacement. I don’t really see what the problem is here. Do you think he would appoint someone from a different party? Do you think the guy’s wife would have accepted the appointment if she felt she were unfit to fill it?
“Should the people of Missouri elect my husband, I pledge to take their common dreams to the United States Senate,” she said. “Now the choice is up to the people of Missouri. Mel always believed in them, and I do, too.”
Sounds like she’s campaigning!
You know what this suggests to me? That there wasn’t a better Democrat to appoint to the position. Think about it.
The way things are done is exactly how it’s being done. There’s a precedence for this. Also, often times when a Congressmember dies in office, their widow takes over.
Congresswoman Mary Bono ring a bell? Hint, she was married to Cher’s ex.
Calling a woman who lost her husband and son, and then being forced into the public limelight a “bitch” is something I cannot abide.
His name couldn’t be removed from the ballot. Since he will be unable to serve if elected, the governor appoints a replacement. Same as what happens when a Senator dies in office. I don’t see what the problem is. Are the Democrats supposed to concede the race just because their candidate died? How is this going to do any more damage than any other Senator who has been appointed by his state’s governor to fill a vacancy? Hell, I’m sure in some of those cases, a governor has chosen a replacement that wasn’t in the same party as the the deceased Senator.
His bitch? Fuckhead … (and no, I’m not female. Just callin’ a dickhead when I see one, 'sall.)
Personally, I’d rather see an incompetant person in the Senate than a corrupt person. I have no proof that the late Senator was corrupt, but if you’re a congressman, it’s a pretty safe bet.
Umm Origato, I think you have gone off the deep end with that comment:
Look obviously-on-crack-person, if Friedo knows that the Missouri’s state Consitution has provisions for a situation like this then why the hell jump on friedo’s ass over it? He didn’t create the law…
Besides, at this late in the game a party’s ballot is filled and done with. In this case the governor, elected or by death, has the right to appoint whomever depending on what the vote is. If they vote for the Republican candidate, a Libertarian candidate or the deceased candidate, apparently the governor has the authority, by law, to appoint the person to step in his shoes if the Democratic candidate, even if deceased, makes the ticket.
If you have a beef with anyone it should be with the State of Missouri, not friedo or anyone else for that matter.
I forgot to add, most states have a “write in” portion of their election process. If that’s the case then go out and champion for the “write in” candidate and in the mean time write your state rep and get the law changed. I do find it highly asshole-like to attack friedo for pretty much stating facts.
That’s like attacking your science teacher for explaining how fire works then proving him wrong by shooting him with a gun.
Damn and I thought I was a fire bomb waiting to explode, you surpassed me, thank you.
Second, I don’t think that you’re giving the people of Missouri enough credit. Do think that they are so dumb that they’ll vote for the deceased governor, not realizing that he’s dead? I’m sure that some Missourians might’ve heard a thing or too about his death, and will choose for themselves whether they want to cast their vote for him, and therefore, his wife, or for the other guy(s). Simply put, the people of Missouri have the ultimate choice about whether to put this woman into office or not. It isn’t some Democrat conspiracy. If the Republican Candidate died, they wouldn’t take his name off the ballot either
Listen, you neanderthal misogynist prick… Just because you don’t like what is going on does not give you the right to slander the entire female race. Grow the fuck up you XYY imbecile, or I’m gonna send my butch dyke friends to give you a working over that will make you pray for gender reassignment surgery so you can do adequate penance.
If you’re talking about Godfather II, Fredo was shot in the middle of Lake Tahoe, on orders of his brother. If the Friedo you’re think about is in the Hobbit series, well go play with your Doom Master or whatever it is you punks waste your time on, and leave the serious discussions to the grownups.
