Is there a catchier tune than "Young Folks"? No.

As long as there’s no punk rock in my car (ba da bop, ba da bop…)

I’ve found with my niece and my friends’ children that the Clash, the Ramones, and Toots and the Maytals are universally popular with rugrats. Hmm… what does that say about my taste in music? :dubious:

Oh yes! You’re definitely right there. Or it is at least very similar. Actually though, I was reading an article with these guys once, and apparently though it’s actually lifted from some other song. I forgot which one though.

Interesting. Never caught that.

I don’t know what this means for your question, but the whistling was originally a placeholder for another instrumental track to be recorded later–then they realized that it actually worked by itself.

Crikey, I don’t like to be a threadshitter, but no, it’s not a catchy tune. A circular saw against my teeth would be more catchy.

It’s a very catchy pop tune. I’ve had the thing in my head for several weeks now. That’s actually how I figured out it was the old “Chinese” melody. I kept humming the song absent-mindedly, and then one day I thought, “Hey, wait a minute…”

The video is pretty damn cool. The kid in the Hulk shirt cracks me up.

Catchy tune?

Try two guitar chords followed by:

I can’t get no … satisfaction!

Wow…if one ever needed proof that taste is subjective.

Catchy? God no, not to my ears. But yeah, what’s funny is that I caught the Chinese thing pretty quickly, but I’ve been listening to this a lot lately, which I do find catchy!

The song in the OP doesn’t speak to me, but THIS one is saved to my favorites! (And it doesn’t hurt that the guy is kinda cute  ).

On the subject of incomprehensible-yet-catchy foreign language songs, here’s my current favorite.

Wow. I’ve always said that the “Outback” tune was incredibly catchy, and I am very happy knowing that there is an actual “song” version of it. Discuss rip-offs as you will.

That Whap-Pa song is incredibly cool. The music video is cute, but I always love pop songs that have random brass/reeds tossed in.

And of course, it’s by a member of the infamous “Numa Numa” band. Why am I not surprised?

No, I don’t think it’s catchy at all.

Tubthumping is the catchiest song ever written.

Ditto here.

I find a lot of these songs mentioned catchy, and several of them I’d already overheard somewhere without knowing the title or artist involved, so thanks!

If “catchy” means “quick hook that stays for the whole song”, some entries off the top of my mental jukebox (OK, what’s on my gym mix iPod played back from memory) would be:

[ul][li]The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop[/li][li]Queen - Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You[/li][li]R.E.M. - It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)[/li][li]The Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Went Down To Georgia[/li][li]The Who - The Punk and the Godfather[/li][li]Stevie Wonder - Superstition[/li][li]Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message[/li][li]Eminem - Without Me[/li][li]Public Enemy - 911 Is A Joke[/li][li]Valerie Simpson - Silly, Wasn’t I?[/li][/ul]
OK, scratch that last one, just seeing who would actually read all of that.

I do love the Rolling Stones, and funnily enough, have always thought their “catchiest” song is “Monkey Man” From Let It Bleed. Not one of their biggest hits but it hooks me something fierce for some reason. Especially the lyrics I hope we’re not too messianic, or a trifle too Satanic..

Also surprisingly catchy is the song Heaven On Their Minds from the soundtrack to Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Gotta love a funky polemic sung from Judas’ point of view. All your followers are blind - too much heaven on their minds… It was beautiful, but now it’s sour…

That Carrie Underwood song is very catchy.

Also catchier than the tedious “Young Folks”:

Best dance moves EVAR!

Meh. I have a lot more tolerance of artists selling their songs for commercials these days. It’s harder for musicians to make money in the current market.

If it didn’t have the “whistling in an echo chamber” hook I don’t think anyone would have even heard of this song.
It reminds me of the whistling song that plays on the menu screen of Kill Bill vol.1.
