Is there a Doctor in the house?

Does the White House have a physician in residence?
If not, how close are paramedics if a 911 call is placed?

I sure hope there’s a private MD on call.

I doubt the government would leave the president’s well-being to the DC 911 Service.

There’s an entire medical staff at the White House and they travel as part of the President’s entourage.

Not only that, but there are always fire engines and ambulances as part of the entourage. It’s the job of the Secret Service to plan for the unthinkable.

Sometimes the White House physician helps people other than the President: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27578582/

When George Bush infamously threw up on the prime minister of Japan, the White House physician was on the trip with him.

On the other hand, the cite also reports that when Eisenhower suffered his bowel obstruction in 1956, it took the White House physician a half-hour to get there.
