Is there a good multivitamin that's easy to swallow?

Do they still make Geritol liquid?

Nah, Centrum’s on the larger end of what most people (IMlimitedE) consider to be reasonably sized.

But don’t cut 'em in half - that will NOT solve swallowability problems!

I know this, because when I was a kid, my parents for whatever reason didn’t believe in getting the kids’ version of anything and I had to swallow half a Centrum every morning. Sweet Og. Trust me, if you’re having problems swallowing a whole Centrum, cutting it in half will only make things worse.

Another vote for gummies!

Viactiv makes calcium chewables in chocolate and caramel flavors, and various stores like Costco and Target now have their own store brand versions. I like them.

I’ve also heard that you can make the process easier by tossing in the pill and water, then tilting your head down, not back - bring your chin down closer to your neck. This way, the pill floats to the back of your mouth, in prime swallowing position. If you tilt your head back, the pill floats to the front of your mouth, making it harder to swallow.

I take the children’s chewables from Trader Joe’s along with the Viactiv chewable calcium and D.

I don’t do horse pills and have a hard time getting them down. My doctor said it was perfectly alright to take the kid’s versions.

I’ll have to look into those. Of course, I recently bought a bottle of 250 calcium pills, so it’ll be at least six months before I need to buy more.

Another vote for Viactive. They’re not sold in as many stores as they were when I first started taking them, so when I found them at Target on Monday, I bought three containers of them! They taste like candy, so if I take one after dinner it’s like dessert.

Have you tried this? Put the vitamin in you mouth, fill your mouth with water, tilt your head back and swallow water and vitamin in one gulp. Works for me everytime and I’m swallowing a whole handful of vitamins, supplements, etc. at one time.

I’m taking Centrum orange flavored chewables. Thanks for reminding me…I forgot to take it this morning.

Trader Joe’s also makes an adult chewable that I’ve taken. I have no issue swallowing pills, but for some reason most multi-vitamins make me nauseous, but the chewables don’t. Neither do the Wal-mart brand prenatal vitamins, either, which is odd.

I take Centrum and have had a problem swallowing it. I rarely have a problem now because for one thing I use a vegetable oil spray on it before swallowing. This allows the pill to glide more easily. I also, of course, use a lot of water. I get it back near the throat, drink a gulp of water, and down it goes. If it does get stuck, you can “unstuck” it by drinking a lot of water. Keep gulping the water even if it splashes out of your mouth. It will eventually wash down.

Costco sells Kirkland’s sugar-free calcium chews with vitamins D and K. They are chocolate flavored. On delicious piece contains 500 mg of calcium, 200 IU of vitamin D, 40 mcg of vitamin K, and 20 mg of sodium. (Hey, it didn’t say it didn’t contain salt.) It also has 4 g. of carbohydrates because it contains palm kernel oil. Well, it’s not perfect.

Go to the dollar store and get a pill crusher. I do this and just gulp it down with my morning coffee

Those look great! I’ve been looking for a gummy multivitamin for a while now, so I’ve been hanging out at health food stores and vitamin stores, but they didn’t seem to have exactly what I was looking for. They always had added stuff I didn’t like or the dosage in some component was really low. I didn’t think to look at the supermarket or the drugstore for the name brands, but this one looks really good. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!

Nutrition Now B Complex. Tastes like candy. I don’t detect an aftertaste. But it lacks thiamine and riboflavin. But I notice that’s in a lot of cereals, so maybe people get enough of that in other places.

They remind me of Kraft caramels. Yum!

I also take two Tums every night for the calcium. My favorites are the orange flavored ones with no sugar added.

I got a big pill stuck in my throat last summer and didn’t think I would be able to breathe. The Heimlich Maneuver didn’t get it out, but relocated it enough that I could get a little air around it. I think I finally gagged it up right before the firemen got here. The irony is that the bottle said, “New Easy to Swallow Size.”

I take a bunch of supplements, most are horse size, and have never had swallowing issues.

Should I go into pron?
