Is there a password manager that works properly?

Yeah, I think the DELs are generally a useful feature! 1password doesn’t have anything like that, as far as I know, and requires you to explicitly link everything. That’s quite difficult for somebody like Microsoft.

Might have to give Bitwarden another look for home use.

This is exactly what I do.

The even easier way is to just let Bitwarden save the app info when doing autofill into the username and password fields for the first time. Take the recreation.gov example, I don’t know (or care) why Booz Allen uses com.bah instead of gov.recreation for the appIdentifier, I just want the proper password to autofill, and after the first time using the app, it does.

I’m afraid I’m not following your workflow description.

Using a browser, whether on phone or PC, I establish an account at wherever.com with a fresh new username and password, and create / save an entry in Bitwarden with that info.

Then I go get the corresponding app from the Google apps store and install it on my phone. Then what do I do?

I deleted com.bah... from my recreation.gov entry, and logged out of the app. You’ll never believe what happens next!

  1. Open app and go to login
  2. Tap option to autofill with Bitwarden
    1. Bitwarden doesn’t find an entry so it offers to create one
    2. Tap the search and enter recr
    3. Tap the recreation.gov entry
    4. New choices
      1. Autofill
      2. Autofill and save
      3. View
    5. Select Autofill and save
  3. Returned to app and complete login
  4. verify that the recreation.gov entry now contains the url androidapp://com.bah.r1smobile for matching

Next time I need to login to the app it will automatically offer me the recreation.gov as the matching choice.

Great! Thanks for the additional details. That’s definitely the actually easy way.
