Is there a real reason to hate Obama?

Disappointed liberals haven’t been paying attention to who the non-performers in WDC really are. The conservatives I see on TV excoriate him with a seething passion that falls just short of hate speech.

The ones that think Obama is the Antichrist probably disagree with you.

He turned me into a newt!

I got better.

Obama has done considerable damage to the USA (huge deficit increase, economic depression, incompetent cabinet appointees).
It is clear that he is in over his head, and unqualified.
Why anyone expect anything different is beyond me-he has never managed anything in his life, and has only spent a few months as a senator.
My fear is trhat his last months as president will see a huge spate of spending , which will further weaken the dollar.

I don’t get the “hate” thing. Disagree with his policies or his stance on the issues, sure. I consider myself a progressive and I’ve been at odds with many administrations but never “hated” any individuals and always respected at least the office if not the man. I believe civil discourse is necessary in a civil society. Extreme polarization is bad because it destroys any political middle ground which can have disasterous results. The Spanish Civil War is a good example.

And you can number me among the people who’ve been very disappointed in Mr. Obama. Disagree? Frequently. Hate? No.

Bri2k

Not, because your later premise is also wrong and/or inapplicable. For example, of course he’s never claimed to be a leftist idiot – who would do that? That doesn’t mean that he’s not, though. Time to introduce Godwin’s law: Hitler never claimed that he wanted to be a mass murderer, either! :stuck_out_tongue:

Very close to my feelings, except I suspect he a very interesting guy, just a rather boring politician.

I disagree with his politics, I do not hate him.

Which is odd, because in my opinion, he was one of the most interesting and exciting *campaigners *ever.

I think a “Haters gonna hate” meme poster would be appropriate here.

The first two of these are not Obama’s doing. I probably would agree with you on the third.

Maybe not the second one, but the huge deficit increases are absolutely Obama’s doing. Not his exclusively, but he certainly has a hand in it.

Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr., all got accused of being the Antichrist. Nothing new there. I am extremely skeptical of the “one in four” claim. I think the pollster probably asked loaded questions to a skewed sample.

As for me, I voted against him in 2008.
If I had it to do over again, I would still vote against him.
I am extremely unlikely to vote for him in 2012.
But I don’t hate him.
I disagree with him on most of the issues.
If a white guy espoused those stances on those issues, I would still disagree with him.

When has Obama ever claimed to be liberal, let alone a “leftist”?

He made numerous promises he consequently didn’t even bother trying to fulfil, and in some cases did the exact opposite, and he seems willing to cave to the Republicans on just about everything. Doesn’t make me hate him, though. I’ll still vote for him next time because the only GOP candidate that isn’t batshit insane (Huntsman) has about as much chance of winning the nomination as I do.

It’s hard to see how anyone with rational politics can hate Obama. The predominant theme of his political agenda is how bland it is.

The only people I can see hating Obama are those on the extreme ends of the political spectrum and ironically it’s for similar reasons. Right wing and left wing extremists both imagine Obama is something he isn’t and never pretended to be - a left wing radical.

Der Trihs says: the ones that think Obama is the Antichrist.

He links to a blog post about a poll, in which the blog author says: Almost one in four Republicans suspect that Barack Obama is the Antichrist.

The actual poll (an on-line poll, by the way) seems to have asked if it is possible Obama is the Antichrist.

Hell, I’d have to answer that question ‘yes.’ It is highly unlikely, but in the same way that it’s possible to deal a game of contract bridge and end up with suits distributed perfectly to each player, it’s possible.

As to the actual question: I certainly don’t hate Obama. I think he’s a good family man and a good man morally and ethically – much more so than the usual run of politician, in fact.

Hate him? No. Didn’t vote for him, probably won’t vote for him, think he has achieved little and that little is mostly counter-productive, recognize that he lacked experience to begin with and has learned little, yes, but hate, no.

Regards.

I do not like his politics, his slimy ways of saying and doing things and the people he has surrounding him. He shines good light on what he has done (when most of the time it’s untrue) and constantly berates others. Generally I do not like politics and he makes me like it even less. This being said, I do not say I “hate” him. I say I intensely dislike him. No, I wouldn’t want to be around him because of the before mentioned aversion but it’s like an ex…I just would steer clear of him.

No. It’s impossible that he could have human flaws, or be a bad president.
