I’ve recently lost a bunch of CD-Rs because they got so damaged in a backpack. Fortunately, it was just a bunch of videos off Kazzaa that are certainly replacable, but it’s annoying to find out that the recording medium is exposed on the outside, instead of being protected on the inside, like I somehow thought it was. In one case, there was such a hole worn in the film that’s the the recording surface that I could just look through the disc.
So, is there a tough brand of CD-Rs that is resistant to damage?
has links and reviews of CDRs but they are usually related to the effect time will have on a CDR ,
I prefer Sony CDQ-74CN CDRs but for sending stuff to my friends i just use cheapo memorex CDRs that are ok since they won’t be using or keeping it for too long.
Your point is well taken. No one makes a super tough CD that I am aware of. People always think the writing side is the delicate one until the top gets scratched and a chunk of foil gets peeled off. I think your best solution would be to buy some CD “stamper” type labels that cover most of the top surface. For transportation protection the soft cover CD wallets that hold 12 or 24 or 48 etc CDs are hard to beat.
