A lot of critics* seem to inevitably reach a point where they value originality over quality, expression, enjoyability, or whatever benefits one would expect to obtain from a medium (e.g. expression or idea in visual art, flavor in foods, fun in gaming).
Is there a term of phrase for this phenomenon? I’d think it’s fairly universal.
*by critics I mean highly experienced reviewers. The people who would’ve been writing a column in magazines and newspapers, before the modern internet and customer review sites like yelp and amazon.
