I sent a package off about two weeks ago (from MA to VA) and the person is yet to receive it. Is there a way for the Post Office to track it if it didn’t have a tracking number? (a person did it for me, I wasn’t there) The Post Office was CLUELESS, so is it a lost cause, or should I call on Monday, hoping to get a knowledgeable person on hte phone?
Did you get a receipt with tracking info? If so:

They don’t do the real-time tracking like UPS and FedEx do though so you won’t know if it is sitting in the cold in a warehouse in Alaska or sunning itself in Hawaii right now but it will tell you if it was supposedly delivered.
Other than that, you are mostly out of luck. There isn’t anyone knowledgeable enough to memorize every package going through the system and where it is right now. If you ordered something through a vendor, they may be able to help you from their end.
If you paid to send it registered, then you would have gotten a tracking number and a receipt. If you just had it weighed and purchased enough postage to get it to it’s destination, you are SOL.
Don’t bother calling if you didn’t purchase a trackable delivery service. The USPS does have some packages tracked by FedEx these days (I’ve gotten packages from big online retailers that were USPS, but could log into the FedEx tracking system to track it), but it is definitely an extra service that has to be specifically paid for.
I think you’re screwed.
