Is there a Windows text editor similar to EVE?

I’ve been merrily using EVE for years and years, but our elderly VMS cluster is finally going away. Does anyone know of a text editor similar to EVE that runs under Windows?

I’m OK using Word to compose basic documents but I hate it and I get frustrated because I can’t figure out how to do things that are simple with EVE, like using learn/repeat sequences (I know that macros are supposed to do kind of the same thing in Word, but how do you do stuff like “change direction” or “move by word” or whatever?)

If anyone can recommend something, I’d be really grateful.

The only one I am aware of is nu/TPU , but it is not free. You might check it out, I think they have a demo you could try.
