Is there a word for writing on its side?

I’m not sure on how to search for this – as I’ve tried and not gotten anywhere – so thought it’d be easiest to ask and see if anyone might know offhand.

Say you have a typical book sitting on a bookshelf. The title of the book is on the spine, written on a 90 degree angle, and reads from left to right, which is also up to down.

Is there a word that can be used to describe this particular orientation, whether it be writing specific or otherwise? “Vertical” by itself wouldn’t cut it, as text that is not at a 90 degree angle can still be read top ot bottom that way.

I’d prefer one word, if such a beast exists, but otherwise as short and as simple of a phrase as one can get. “Sideways” might suffice, but I was hoping there might be something more specific, and ideally something referring to the writing or letter forms.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen it as “rotated” (+90 degrees in the US, at least; -90 degrees in other places).

And why is it that every 12th book on the shelf has the title rotated -90° instead of +90°?
Sadists!

Those books were printed in different countries.
All US books are designed so that when placed on a coffee table face up the spine is also face up.

I believe the term the OP is seeking is vertical.

“Vertical” had already been discarded in the OP. “Rotated” might work, but I was hoping for something a little more specific, either to books/lettering, 90 degree clockwise turns, or both. I don’t know if there even is one though…
