I never watch the Academy Awards-long and boring, with those pretentious speeches.
But I think such a ceremony for porographic films would be hilarious.
Is there such an event? Is it held in some seedy old dump of a hotel, with a moth-eaten red carpet?

Yes–I’m posting from work, so I won’t even search for it now, much less post the link, but look up Adult Video News. They have adult awards for best performances in different categories.
As far as I know, it’s as classy a deal as the regular Oscars…I think AVN holds their award show in Las Vegas (or at least they have), and it’s a big deal. No motheaten carpets with guys in raincoats skulking around.

David Foster Wallace wrote an essay on the 1998 AVN awards titled “Neither Adult Nor Entertainment”.
There are so many award categories that every studio and name performer is pretty much guaranteed to get at least one, but then porn produces approximately 10,000 titles per year.
It is kind of silly and pointless, as except for a handful of titles, none of this stuff stays around long enough for an award to serve any purpose towards marketing. It is much more self-congratulatory than the Oscars, and pretty much only that.
When Mrs. zoog and I are shopping for some fresh porn, one of our running jokes is “look, honey, this one won an award!”.
