Is there any hope for my dial-up?

Here’s the deal, I have a dial-up internet connection, but I only get on at 26.4kbps because of an analog switch between myself and the ISP (I have a 56K modem). Does anyone have any clever ideas for increasing my connection speed, short of getting DSL/Cable/ISDN?

The only thing I can think of would be to go out and buy a v92 modem. I have a Dell Dimension L800R and my modem is just a Conexant chipset on the motherboard and I spent an hour or two on two occasions trying to find a v92 driver to no avail. So is v92 worth buying a new modem, or is the speed increase relatively modest?

Thanks for your replies…
