I live in the UK, and I have a Nokia 1110 mobile phone. I like it and don’t want to upgrade to another phone or buy a cheaper one.
The problem is,like all phones wihout a physically protected keypad, even with the keypad lock on it can automatically dial the Emergency Services if it receives a consecutive 9-9-9 or 1-1-2. It’s happened to me at least 4 times in the last 3 years and considering the proximity of the digits in both numbers I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often.
I keep my phone in my pocket along with my PDA, keys, wallet and coinpurse so it gets knocked frequently. Is there anything I can do to disable the emergency calling? I am willing to take the risk that I may someday be in an emergency situation that the 2 seconds it takes to disable keyguard and make the call normally will mean the difference between life and death
