SAS shoes are supposedly pretty good for jobs that require a lot of standing and walking but they cost $130-150 a pair. I’ve never tried them, but I have spent money on shoes before just to find I don’t like them a few weeks later.
Shoe carnival is a B&M store that sells them nearby, and they have a year round deal of buy one pair of shoes at full price get a second half off. So doing that two pairs of $140 SAS shoes would cost $210, or $105 a pair. That is a fairly decent 25% savings per pair.
Are there ways to get SAS shoes 50% off, or is 25% off about the best one can do?
I don’t know about discounts, sorry. But I wear them at work, while standing all shift,(I am a baker IRL) and they have saved my feet. They are longer lasting and more comfortable than any other shoes I’ve worn. Since they last a long time if taken care of, they are worth the price, and I’m a cheapskate of the highest order.
Which model were you using? I am willing to spend $140 on a pair of shoes, but if I can get the same pair for $80 I’d rather do that. Right now the best deal I can find it buy one, get one half off.
I live in eastern Indiana, the Chicago one and southwest ohio are the closest. But I go to chicago 2-4 times a year so I can check it out next time I am there.
I live in San Antonio, the home base for SAS Shoes. My wife looked at their local store, and the shoes are just as high-priced. Probably the best way to get a discount is to marry into the family.
No idea - always bought mine for retail (and got one pair as a gift). I do know they have substantial discounts though - that’s where my aunt got my gift pair and she’s notoriously tight with a buck.
When I’ve bought SAS shoes at an Outlet mall, it wasn’t much of a discount. I’ve gotten a pair here or there at clearance which were cheap(er), but it takes being in the right place at the right time, with the right size feet.
I am fairly sure that SAS has had sales at Shoebuy’s private sale site: http://events.shoebuy.com/
(No, I’m not shilling for them, I have wide feet so I’ll take any chance to get a deal on shoes!)
They send out 1 or 2 emails a week advertising the sales. Never had a problem with shipping or service.
Wesley, why don’t you go to the SAS shoes website and see if there’s a member’s group you can join so you can get emails on upcoming special events or sales?
I’m glad I noticed this thread - I like SAS shoes and they’ve become hard to find (I used to get them at Nordstrom but they haven’t carried them for years). I did find a SAS store, not that far from my office, but it’s pricey as hell.
You can usually find some some SAS deals on eBay. I tried SAS shoes for several years, but they were quite expensive, and did not really offer all that much more support than a quality men’s shoe, and did not last all that much longer than a mid quality value priced shoe. They were pretty good shoes, but sold at premium prices. I’ve also sold many SAS shoes on the net.
The main key with SAS (IMO) is that they are sized somewhat wider than normal which is a big deal as many people (esp women) get shoes that are too narrow for comfort. An SAS sizing tag will say “medium” but it will really be a “wide” which is important for some people in order to keep the illusion they don’t have duckfeet.
They also typically have very soft and flexible uppers leather and a sizable toe box which lets your toes move around. The SAS Tripad sole is a decent insole but nothing revolutionary. In the end what they have created is a borderline orthopedic shoe that is just stylish enough to wear without feeling self conscious about wearing clown shoes.
If people just got the right width shoe and used a decent insole like SOF they could get the same effect at less cost. Keen shoes come to mindand they are better constructed (IMO) than SAS shoes and have quality insoles.
