Thank you so much for your stunning insight, although I think most Dopers figured that one out on their own.
Oh silly me… I wasn’t aware we were keeping score, nor that quantity = quality in this board.
Do ya now? Which is why both your replies to me in this thread are devoid of any content whatsoever pertinent to the OP? On that basis alone, I suggest you don’t.
Take your own advice and go play in the Pit, Athena.
And to all the other Dopers who have been subjected to this little spat, my apologies. In the future I will restrain myself. Likewise, don’t bother flaming me anymore in this thread, as I won’t be coming back to read it. <collective sigh of relief from the Millions>
??? - this is definitely the weirdest flame subject matter I’ve ever been involved with.

Anyways, to get back to the OP, these statements are true:
Some shipping places will sometimes ship beer and wine to some places, but those places are extremely limited. Hard Liquor is never shipped.
My WAG is:
The real legalities of this depends on the two states involved. As each state has its own separate liquor laws, it’s next to impossible to get an answer to the question “Can I legally ship a gift bottle of X from State A to State B.” As such, the majority of shipping companies have decided to punt, and except in rare cases, just say “Nope, we won’t do it.”
