I had no idea this type of information was out there for any one to view. This makes me very paranoid  no wonder identity theft is so common. Please if anyone knows how I can just become a non person on these sites please let me know!!! thanks
If you think that’s bad, you should see what Lexis/Nexis has on you.
The point of sites like net detective is that this information is available to anyone willing to do some minimum amount of ‘legwork’ to get it. Taking it off those sites might be possible with a bunch of emails, but the information itself is still there. Getting the information itself out of the ether is impossible, if not physically impossible then you’ll-ruin-your-life-and-still-not-succeed impossible. It’s hard enough getting obviously incorrect information out of credit reports.
Do a vanity search at http://www.zabasearch.com/
Even if you have never used the Internet, you’re there. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump to finding out more about anyone than you realize.
Too late.
Getting your information taken off the net is like taking all the pee out of a swimming pool. Can’t be done thoroughly.
This is all public information. The way to disappear is to own no property, take no credit, use no public utilities, don’t open a bank account, don’t have a job. Otherwise, your name is going to show up on the public record and end up in one of the dozens of websites that offer access to it.
Right. Some people seem to conclude that information that has been freely available in phone books, courthouse records, and other public sources is somehow a terrible violation of privacy once it hits the web and they have the right to have it removed. My mother was one of those people. Nope, freedom of speech and other liberties lets them put a whole bunch of factual information out there however they choose for anyone to see.
Didn’t have me listed even when I gave my full first and middle names, YOB and state.
Dammit, it has every address I’ve had (mostly unlisted) and knows about how much I make.
Where does it list how much people make? I only saw my address and an incorrect phone number.
Warning to those who are tempted to try that Net Detective site: my SiteAdvisor
gave it a red warning for “links to red sites”. Caveat Emptor.
What I hate are heated Internet discussions (not here) where eventually someone
pulls the “You aren’t brave enough to post under your real name, coward!” card.
I usually tell them to get bent, that with all the ID theft and such going around I
really don’t want some amateur bozo finding out about all my internet haunts and
viewpoints on things and so forth.
Yeah, if my salary info is out there for any goon to see, I’d like to know about it. I can’t find where I can see that on ZabaSearch, either.
I have found www.veromi.net produces much more current information.
Me neither, until I clicked to search in some other database. Then they had my name and hometown, but the age was 31 years off. I’m kind of interested to know why they think I’m 56 years old.
They actually have me on there, but in my hometown of Beckville, not my current location. They don’t have a phone number either. I’d say I do a pretty good job of staying under the radar.
Oh, that Veromi site also has the older version of me now that I do a search without DOB. Interesting…
Woot, I’m not on any of those! In your face, Internet!
Whats a red site?
Well from what y’all say I guess I’m out of luck. My mistake was registering to vote I think. Before that, none of this shit showed up on me.
Some of my always-unlisted address info is there, which annoys me mightily. So much for protecting oneself against a stalker.
