I’ve never heard of anybody named Cadillac (the car was named after the French Founder of Detroit) or Chevrolet (named after a Swiss racer) today. Are these last names still around in The US? How about in France or Switzerland? Ever meet any?
Oh, I’m not talking about the football player, by the way.
If either was indeed your last name, I would say a tatoo of the logo would be a must.
A quick search at whitepages.com turns up folks with both last name. So in the US, at least, there are still folks with those last names.
[Automotive Trivia Hijack] Cadillac started out as the Henry Ford Car Company (or similar), but Ford’s financers didn’t like the idea of him selling cars for the masses, so once they had a working car, they fired Henry and changed the name to Cadillac. The Chevrolet brothers got so mad at the way Durant was running the company they founded (after he bought it and merged it with other car companies to create GM) that they (or at least one of them) went to work for Henry Ford. Looks like there are 7 Chevy’s and 18 Cadillac’s in the US. Although I think that at least some of the Cadillac’s might be “not OEM” names. I suspect that the gentleman listed as “Flash Cadillac” might not go by his birth name. That being said, WHAT A RAD NAME! Makes “Max Powers” sound like “Larry Smith”.
Thanks Tucker, that’s some interesting automotive trivia I was unaware of.
