Is there some way to take a streaming video feed and download it

^^ so that I can actually see it?

I have a slow slow 56K (connecting at 26K) internet connection, so watching anything that is streaming is completely out of the question, but there is this streaming video feed that I want to watch (the new Ace Combat 5 video). So how can I download the movie conventionally so that I may watch it at my lesure? It a windows media player type too.

Thanks

Try Googling HiDownload

You most certainly can. Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, open the media window and browse through the source code until you find the file name and extension of the video. If it doesn’t have the http://blahblah.org on it, just add it. You might have to play around with the directories, but usually its pretty straight forward. Seldomly sites will encrypt or make their URL’s confusing, but usually its pretty easy.

If you post a specific site I can give you an example.

      • Well, sometimes you can, but now often not. Often websites will use an active server to block access attempts from anything but the intended page, to prevent people on other sites from hotlinking to the video on their website. And I think all media players now have an option for blocking saving the file and for not allowing exporting their content. If you try to “save” the file, all you get is a link to it. If you try to access the file directly with your browser, the server says “access denied”. If you try to do a screen capture, the skin of the media player shows up, but where the “screen” of the media player is stays black.
  • It has gotten to the point that the only certain way to do a screen-capture now with any type of media is to have a computer with an old video card that has a direct-hardware RCA video-out (that DRM features cannot block), and then you can record the entire screen and audio to an external VCR. -And then you can turn around and record that same video back in, and save it as a normal mpeg, and have your way with it.

Well, I personally rarely have a problem getting the videos.

Here’s a link to download the video:

Uhmm, that’s the old movie, there is a new one Here , it’s the one on the right, I cann’t see what it is, but I wants.

I’d like to know this too.

As an example go to www.silicon.com, video news stories are under silicon.tv on the right. (Use IE, it doesn’t seem to work in Mozilla). Please explain how I can download a story to disk to view later.

I have HiDownload, please explain how I use it to copy videos.
