Is there something wrong with Expedia or is it just me?

For the last 2 days I’ve been searching for trips on Expedia. The main search page opens OK. But when I put in trips to search all I get is a page with the circling icon as if it’s searching for trips. But it never opens up to those available, prices, etc… The icon just keeps spinning.

The same thing also happens with Hotwire, Orbitz, and Travelocity, all who are owned by Expedia.

I have no problems with other sites like Priceline.

Is there something wrong with Expedia or is it just the connection I’m working from?

ETA: it only does this when searching for bundles (Air/hotel). When searching for those individually it works fine.

Try clearing your browser cache and then quit and restart the browser. Sometimes cached pages get badly cached and then can’t load.

Or try a different browser and see if you get better results there.

Neither worked.

But why would they? Everything else on those sites comes up but when I search for a Air/hotel/car bundle package it just spins. that’s so odd.

Try doing that kind of search for Chicago to Key West November 23-30th and tell me if anything comes up.

If I search JUST hotel, or JUST flight it comes up fine.

Oddly if I search flight plus car it comes up fine.

But searching flight plus hotel it just spins. WTH?

Just to rule this out: do you have Ad Block, uBlock, or Ghostery running (among other potential programs)? I find that every so often I encounter a major site that simply won’t function right unless I turn off one, or all, of my anti- programs.

Also, I’ve noticed recently (last year or so) that some pages no longer work with IE, adding to the level of internet persnicketiness.

Have you tried the same thing on Chrome or Firefox or (YIKES!) Edge?

Really good thought, Raza. Ad blockers do seem to mess up complex web pages. I use a centralized DNS blocker called PiHole and some pages just never seem to load if you block all of the ads. Those are sites I just don’t visit anymore.

If the firewall is configured to do UTM with antivirus, web filtering, etc., that could also be messing with things.

As an experiment, I went to expedia and was able to get to a hotel booking page but if I did the same search on expedia-aarp, it just hung and spun. So I’m seeing some weirdness with Expedia too.

I think it’s a bug in your ad blocker. Specifically, it’s blocked by the EasyPrivacy list. You can add this to your “My filters” as an exception to make it work again (or just turn off adblock for expedia):

Good research, Reply. Thanks!
