I acquired this new pair of cordovan Bass loafers the other day while thrift storing that I was going to list on eBay as men’s shoes. The shoes are absolutely pristine, but have no tags or stickers for ID purposes. A female friend informed me that she thought they are women’s shoes, so I went ahead and listed them as women’s shoes anyway, but in looking at them I can’t be sure, and I’m wondering if I’m wasting my listing fee and time by having them in the wrong category.
I agree with your friend - I think they’re a bit too dainty-looking for a man. Nice.
Womens’ shoes. And is that a toilet brush I see in the background?
No it’s a bottle brush, but I was needing a good shaving brush, and we all know what makes the very best hair for shaving brushes …and since it looks like you won’t be needing it…Hmm…where are my scissors?
Women’s. Men’s shoes aren’t cut with a vamp that low, possibly unless they are European - usually Italian - which Bass are not.
Was there no size in them? Are you just guessing at the 8.5? Because they don’t look like an 8.5 in men’s, which would be a 10.5 in women’s. If there was a marking of 8.5 AA, they are definitely women’s.
they look like women’s shoes to me!
the easiest way to find out for sure is to find somebody who is an 8.5 women’s shoe size and have them try them on - if they were an 8.5 men’s size, they would be two sizes too big for her
8.5 is a fairly common women’s size, too, so you probably have a friend that would fit into them!
Yes they’re marked “8 1/2 AA” on the inside.
Thanks to all for the feedback. I’ll leave them where they are. Now all I have to do is figure out why the $ 250. pair of new suede Ferragamos I’ve got listed for 35 bucks aren’t selling. I guess no one likes green eggs and ham, much less green shoes.
Those are some nice Ferragamo shoes but I can tell you, they are hard to fit. Ferragamos are cut somewhat small and the toe box is flat and narrow. I’ve got normal-shaped feet and Fs are quite uncomfortable to me. Maybe the people who see your listing and are the type to buy them are familiar with their (to me) limitations.
Plus, green is kind of a hard color to buy unless you’re a shoe horse like me. Regular folks probably don’t want such a “funky” color.
Ya HAH! You could wear those pretty little things to the Buttram Bar, and the fella’s would just SCREAM!
In cases like this, the width will usually give it away.
Women’s widths (usually) run:
D or C (Wide), B (Medium), AA (Narrow), AAA (Slender)
Men’s are:
EE or E (Wide), D (Medium), C or B (Narrow)
American sizes, btw. And no, this isn’t followed 100% of the time, but it’s a good start.
