Huh. I give raises to my employees based on performance. I know I’ve heard them discussing “who got what” over lunch.
(I once had a receptionist who was getting minimum wage for two years. One day she approached me and asked why everyone else got raises and she never did. I explained that raises were based on performance, and she always did just the bare minimum. She thought it over and said OK, she understood. She continued to avoid a raise for years.)
