That’s not an assumption. That’s a forecast based on data and past experience. It’s like an all-you-can-eat restaurant; some people will get a great deal but they know that most will eat a reasonable amount. Doesn’t mean you can take home a doggy bag or share a plate with someone because you could have eaten more. If you’re a competitive eater you can get a great training session for cheap and the restaurant will lose some money on you - but most people won’t eat like that.
And I’m sure they would pro-rate any customer for downtime who asked for it. It’s probably included in the details of the contract.
Maybe Joes did, mine didn’t. All they offered me was coupon codes for free car washes. Which didn’t benefit me at all as once the wash was up and running I got washes with my transceiver. I guess I could have gotten more than one wash a day using them but as mentioned before that’s kind of silly.
At my old joint the comp check was five percent of total sales. The bartenders were pretty scrupulous about sticking to the rule, since we all liked the owner. Comps are a good way to make and keep regulars.
That said I don’t know Pennsylvania laws, and will take Kayaker’s word for it.
The scrub-a-dub contract in my state is explicit that you don’t get anything if the car wash is closed for a service or maintenance. (You can go to another location in the state, though.)
Okay, I live in a major Canadian city, Vancouver, and I know “major Canadian city” means “small city by world standards,” but still. I have never heard of car washes like this. The only ones I know of are either connected to gas stations and you pay at the pump or are stand-alone places where you leave the car and attendants vacuum and take it through the exterior washing service. There you pay each time, or buy a book of coupons and the attendant. I’m amazed, and maybe a little appalled, at the car wash options noted here. Both the gas station drive through and the attendant takes the car through service cost around $15. Am I just a car wash hick? Does this happen in Soviet Canuckistan?
Back in the day they were called “robot car washes”. Fully self serve. Either insert a credit card or cash and pick your wash. Or get the subscription transceiver and it detects it. If you wash more than 3 times per month the subscription pays for it’s self versus the individual car wash price. I choose to use a brushless wash similar to the one shown in the video.
Does what happen? Unlimited car wash passes? Here’s an example from Toronto (note: only transferable if you buy a new car, only for personal cars, max 1/day). https://crosstowncarwash.ca/unlimited-wash/
It’s a great deal. The wash I get is $10 individually and the monthly plan for the same wash is under $30 with tax. So after the third wash it’s paid for. Theoretically I could wash my car 31 times a month if I was so inclined. That’s less than a buck per.
I did notice they took the “unlimited” part off the sign. In truth it’s not unlimited. It’s a subscription of one per day.
