Is a incomplete truth presented to teach children some aspect they need to learn at their level of understanding ‘fake’? Fake is simply not the correct term.
Religions are a act of creation, which goes into a act of God (as God created everything). They are here to reach us (the children) in ways we can understand so we can learn what God wants to teach us. We do get to participate in this act of creation but do not come up with it on our own, we are guided by beings such as the angels that watch over us, so there is heavenly influence in all we create.
So your ‘fake’ religion has a purpose, it is to instruct you and or it’s followers and those who may study it on something which may or may not be religious in nature but has to do with the upbringing of God’s children.
In such it is very valid, and you should be blessed that God has made a religion for you and your needs. Enjoy.
Happy FTBOO day
When you can take this pebble from my hand, you will never again want for pebbles.
You mean “buckeye” instead of “pebbles”, right? ![]()
Wrong thread Ranger?
Count me in.
These are some good shoes!
For me to declare anything ridiculous (or at least, anything—religion, philosophy, scientific theory, or whatever—that is sincerely believed by a significant number of people), I would first have to understand it. And that means understanding the real thing, as the most knowledgeable people who believe it understand it, not just a parody or strawman version of it.
None of this applies to a “fake religion,” believed by no one and made up for the purpose of being ridiculous.
It is so. All one has to do is look at a religion with a practical eye; you can see the holes in it like a chunk of Swiss cheese. And when you ask for proof of the existence of whatever ghod they demand that you worship, you get a response that is anything and everything except said proof.
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but it’s ridiculous how, I mean ridiculous like a clown, it amuses you? It makes you laugh, it’s here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean ridiculous, ridiculous how? How is it ridiculous?
Clowns are scary. More like silly, Emo Philips silly.
Not at all, we’re talking about FTBOO here, right?
Since no Moderator has asked, let me be the first:
Where’s the “debate” here?
We get it. the OP thinks religion is stupid, and the SDMB has no shortage of people eager to agree with him. But there’s still no debate, except in the Monty Python sense.
“Religion is stupid.”
“No, it isn’t.”
"Yes, it is.
“No, it isn’t.”
“Yes, it is.”
It’s clear that, after countless attempts by others, this OP will, once and for all, make every religious person see the light and realize that his beliefs are ridiculous. No?
I guess you don’t know that not all religions involve worship of a deity.
Absolutely nobody believes this. “42” is the fictional answer to a question asked in a humorous science fiction book by Douglas Adams, and it has nothing to do with a “Tree of Life”…or any other tree, for that matter.
Nobody believes that “Illuminati” is the meaning of life. The Illuminati are supposedly a super-sekrit group of individuals that have influenced world events for hundreds of years.
Unitarian Universalism is not.
Then again, whether it counts as a religion is debatable. (And just the sort of debate UUs love to have!)
If you can’t paint your body blue and yell, “Kai Yai! Kai Yai!” then that’s not my idea of a religion.
While this thread may have arrived in Great Debates under the general belief that all religion posts are either debates or witnessing, it is not going to remain in Great Debates.
As delivered, the premise was silly.
Nearly all the “serious” responses have been humorless expressions of personal opinion unsupported by facts and the rest have been attempts at humor.
Given the tone of the posts, thus far, I think it will find a better home in The BBQ Pit.
