Okay, but why can’t something like this be real? In other words, why are all viruses bad?

Viruses are “bad” in that their mode of survival typically means infecting healthy cells in order to reproduce. This is pretty basic to most any virus (otherwise they wouldn’t survive whatsoever, and wouldn’t be a virus). Any time you are replacing a cell in the human body with a foreign cell, it’s going to cause problems. While theoretically, there could be a virus that imparted a benefit (you could call a vaccine such a thing, although they don’t stick around long), it just doesn’t really occur in nature.
