Assuming you have the default keyboard now, try Gboard? Or was that default? Try another keyboard if you’re having problems, is what I’m saying. Is it acting up in any way other than the keyboard?

Try disabling the Gmail app if it weirds you out for some reason. Don’t be too afraid when doing stuff like that and troubleshooting, just try to do one thing at a time and remember how to undo it. Worst case, you do another factory reset.

Regarding the notifications, with FF for android, type “about:config” in the address bar, search for “dom.webnotifications.enabled” and set to false.

Great suggestions. Kinda of fell into the, “Take it or leave it” trap with Android browsers, didn’t occur to me that there were other means of chaging them beides the scant settings control and the (lack of) plugins. That lifted from my eyes, I’ll have to see what else I can fix with the About:config method.

Gboard is the default keyboard. Gonna switch to SwiftKey. I like it and it’s not the cause of any problems,from what I can tell now.

Yeah, I’ll disable the Gmail app. That it was Gmail gave me pause - if it was Microsoft, Hotmail, I;d have tried it but I figured it might be doing something important, given the whole Android-Google connection.

For what it’s worth, I have the same tablet and never had any problems like you describe. I’m using Swype as my keyboard.

Thanks for your experience with it. Do you have a link to SWYPE? I looked for it in Google play and accidentally installed SwiftKey again. And it’s bogging down for10-15 seconds too😔

Unfortunately, it looks as though Swype was discontinued back in February and can no longer be purchased. I looked up replacements but it’s pretty much GBoard and SwiftKey.
