I followed a link on another forum to this rather ridiculously racist website (against African-Americans, obviously) and one of the users over there has this quote as his signature. Though he uses the “N Word” instead of “society run by blacks…” in that part of his quote.
But, is it true or not? Has there ever been a society run by black people in Africa that has prospered? I’m totally in the dark about these issues and I must mention that I find racism totally vulgar and scathing.
Hell, a modified version of that quote could be true for societies anywhere in the world:
With the exception of the societies that haven’t yet failed, of course. That’s really just a matter of time.
I’m sure plenty of dopers will come along with specific counterexamples soon enough. Pre world war Ethiopia springs to my mind, but I don’t know enough about it to say specifically.
What does it matter if it’s true or not. I’m sure a person predjudiced against left-handed people could find facts he could use to denigrate left-handed people.
I really don’t have any idea where he got it, nor do I even want to register for that site to ask him. Also, I’d like to know if it’s true or not because I’m simply interested in history and I also find people’s ignorance to be amazing.
“There has never been a society run by left-handed people that hasn’t degenerated into decadence, violence and unending corruption and finally genocide and famine.”
It’s complete bollocks. There have been plenty of black African empires: under the Nubian King Piye, they even managed to conquer part of ancient Egypt. The Ashanti had a large empire in West Africa before its conquest by the British.
