My wife and I have both been sick with sinus infections for about three weeks now. Our son came home from school with a runny yellow nose and we got sick within a couple of days. Once I got to the doctor the sinus pain was near-unbearable and it had spread to my ears, which was even more miserable. I got a prescription of augmentin and took it for 10 days. On the eleventh day, after feeling better, my throat started to hurt and within a few days I was back to where I started, plus an awful barking cough. Back to the doctor, who told me I had a cold and recommended Robitussin. No shit, doc.
I’ve had colds before where I was sniffling and sneezing, but this thing is just knocking me down. I’m about ready to take a power drill to my nose in the hopes of relieving the pressure. Not to mention my pregnant wife has been incredibly miserable, coughing to the point of throwing up almost every night, and bounced between general practicioners who tell her to talk to her obstetrician, who then wants to know why she’s being bothered to treat a cold. Is it just us, or is some awful virus going around this season?
I’ve been avoiding colds and coughs wonderfully until this week, when I was knocked over by what seems to be a sinus infection. I was just going about my day, minding my own business, and then I bent down to pick up a sock on the floor… and my head exploded.
I’ve been sneezing for three days, and each time I do, I feel like my eardrums are going to blow out.
I’m hoping it’s just a head cold and not a full-blown sinus infection, because I don’t feel like doing the antibiotic thing. I’m popping the Advil Cold-and-Sinus pills and sucking down OJ by the gallon, but if it’s no better by mid-week I’ll just go see the stupid doctor. Grrr. And I visit my boyfriend next week, dammit.
So yeah, it’s a crappy season for me too. Sinus infections suck. Why are sinuses so badly designed? Bloody things plug up at the least sign of trouble.
It’s been awful in the Seattle area–I think the flu is actually the one thing that hasn’t been going round. A lot of the folks I know have been thankful if they’re lost less than two weeks of work, and I know one guy who was out for a good eight weeks in a three-month period.
I started off yesterday with the hangover from hell, and after that went away, I was left with a cold. Sore, scratchy throat, bit of a cough, and I’ve been having to blow my nose so much it’s bloody now.
Ugh. I wish I had a sinus infection so I could go get some Amoxicillin and feel better (I normally get 1-2 a year). But nothing to do for colds. Because of severe hangover, my car is not in my possession, so I can’t go out and get anything. Roomie should be coming home soon to take me to it (she’s out of town). I need some NyQuil and Kleenex in bulk. I drank at least 3 litres of water today because of my throat. Having a sore throat and a snotty nose is bad because you keep mouth breathing because your nose is stuffed, then your throat gets all dry and hurts worse and you have funk mouth. Blah.
I REALLY hope I am feeling ok by Wednesday because that is the start of my 5-day in a row working block. That + classes + sickness will be unbearable.
I was fine until right after New Year’s. I had to go up to Pittsburgh for my grandfather’s funeral and when I was up there I caught some sort of awful Yankee bug. I was down with that for weeks, got better, and caught something else really nasty this month. I fear I may be coming down with something else even as we speak. I have been out of sick leave since mid-January.
The Evil clan has been down with some knd of cold/virus thingie that manifests itslef primarily as bad sinus infection with lots of sneezing and coughing, no energy, aches and pains and general misery for the last week.
I have only had one cold so far this year, which is a little less than typical for me. However, since I have been laid off, I’m not in at work where everyone else with a cold is there hacking and snorking all over the place.
Yep. Worse I can remember. My Wife and I both got the flu January 2. Stayed home from work for a week. A full week. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before. Then, for me, It turned into bronchites. I’m still fighting it a little, and yes, I did go to the Doc.
Christ, yes. I’ve been sick for over a week now. This never happens to me. I almost never get sick, and I can’t remember the last time I was sick for over a week.
The play in which I was performing closed yesterday (Sunday), and we had to have an emergency fill-in actor do a major role with script in hand because the original performer was hospitalized with pneumonia.
Now I’m coughing up chunks of green-yellow spackle. I’m home from work today, and will probably be home tomorrow. Urgh.
A week ago Sunday I started getting sick – stuffy nose, cough, weezing, headache etc. So on Wednesday, my day off, I go to the doctor. I have pneumonia! I am on unhappy mouse. Every time I try to do anything that takes the least effort (carry a bag with 3 bannas and 2 cans of cat food in from the car) I start coughing and can’t get my breath.
Crikey, 15 inches of rain in six weeks. I teach. I swim. I work out in a gym. All adds up to six colds from November through February, followed by a NASTY intestinal malady.
I’ve basically had a sore throat and virusy feeling for four months.
