Is this true? (anthrax scare question)

Someone sent this to me in an e-mail:

Can anyone actually substantiate this?

You’ve been here almost a year and haven’t seen Snopes yet?

If I went out on Halloween (and since I’m 35 I don’t) and I came to the door and was greeted by a guy in a hazmat suit (which he would have to be wearing to keep the anthrax from infecting himself), then I would be way about accepting any candy.

And how many parents take their kids out to neighborhoods where they don’t have any idea who is living in the house?
“Hey, let’s go over to where the lonely fanatic lives! He’ll probably have some good candy!”

And although it’s an urban legend, can’t people of Arab descent buy candy in large quantities? Many of them own stores. Although $5000 worth of Halloween candy is an awful lot packages of those miniature Snickers.

I think many kids go out treat or treating without their parents. When I did that it was more for fun and being with friends rather than getting candy for consumption. With all the news, I wonder how many kids would eat their “treats.”

Terrorists don’t always act in such a way as to guarantee their own survival.

I would agree, but there hasn’t been any case of somebody somewhere else in the country (i.e. the perpetrators) dying of inhalation anthrax. The person or persons sending out the anthrax must be taking some precautions so they don’t kill themselves.

Last time I checked the snopes link hadn’t included this information, so:

There was a follow-up article in the New York Times saying that the FBI had confirmed that this person was a resaler, with connections to local convience stores. Buying candy around Halloween is therefore his job.
