This came up at a college track meet I was at last weekend. Part of the competition was the triple-jump. They had an official standing at the take-off strip with two flags, one red and one white. The surprising thing was that it seemed like a good 75% of the jumpers got red-flagged for a fault of some sort, and they didn’t even measure their distance.
These are college athletes, who have probably been doing this for 10 years at least. Are there usually so many faults?
