I was reading the label and it does have alot of vitamins in it but I also noticed it has enough sodium to choke a horse! I was just wondering becuase I’ve always had the idea that V8 juice was good for you.
Contrary to the “popular belief”, for the most part sodium is not harmful to you unless you have a specific medical condition that is impacted by that.
In fact, you’d die without it.
I’m sure somebody is about to chime in with ‘Yes bu too much of it is bad for you’, it always happenes in these sort of discussions.
Reminds me of a Fry and Laurie sketch: Doctor Tobacco
While V8 does have tons of sodium, you can also buy it in a low-sodium version. I’m a total addict & drink this kind to keep from getting too much…
People have a tendency to leach on to one thing. OH if I eat Oat Muffins I’ll get healthy.
No ONE thing is a panacea.
If have NO health problems V8 IS good for you.
If you have high blood pressure most likely NO, there are other alternatives better. Will it kill you? No (unless you’re way over the top already)
V-8 is very good for you, especially if you tend not to eat much in the way of fresh vegetables. Two servings of V-8 equals almost 4 servings of vegetables. Natural vegetable juice is bland, very bland and I know because now and then I crank out my cheap juicer and grind up a bunch of veggies and drink the juice. I add salt and accent. Sometimes I grind up fruit to mix with the juice to make it taste better. (Those people just raving about the taste of the fresh juice on those infomercial shows selling that $150 juicer (mine was $29.95) are paid to say that unless there is a whole lot of fruit mixed in.)
Especially beet juice!
V-8 is a great alternative, though any hard core fresh juicer will argue with you because it is salted and pasturized. I find it tasty and often add a jolt of hot sauce to it to give it a pleasent kick.
Hey there’s Hot ‘n’ Spicy V8 now =9 My faaaaaaavorite. I drink it lots. I’d worry about the sodium, but I mix mine with vodka, so I don’t care about anything after 4 or 5 of 'em.
I used to drink a can every day, but I can’t bring myself to touch the stuff now; I opened a can once and took a swig but something was very wrong - it was lumpy and tasted awful (like the smell that you get at the back of the greengrocer’s shop) - I suppose that the seal on the can musn’t have been quite airtight or something.
I still drink tomato juice quite a lot, but for me V8 is now one of those things (Southern Comfort is another, but not for quite the same reasons) where my body simply says “no thanks, not in here” if I try to drink it.
