For those that missed it the first time around… My Date with the Cute Pyjama Pants Wearing Girl.
Well, that was a pleasant read. I wonder if ol’ @Skewbald is still out there somewhere?
Re the thread topic: I sometimes wrinkle my nose at the slovenly half-dressed people at the grocery store. Then I look down and realize my t-shirt has seen better days and I’m wearing the same shoes I cleaned the chicken coop in.
True enough. There is a rule here at Am I Dead Yet Acres that sleepwear can’t be worn in the lobby and other public areas. But I wear what I call sweatpants that I think are perfectly presentable. Nobody has called me on it yet. If they did, I’d just say I’m on the way to the weight room.
If anybody wants the casual comfort quality of PJs, but without the look, I recommend cargo scrubs. Light, baggy, unrestrictive.
Hey, I got some of those. Love 'em.
As a side note, The Lil’wrekker is on the case. She doesn’t allow me to go out in too terrible a state. She can’t abide my Crocs…I get lectures regularly.
I’m on my way to dialysis now. I have on leggings, a hoodie that matches my socks. Kinda. Yeah and Crocs. I know it’s frowned upon but it’s cold at that place. Socks are needed. If I don’t wear them I get offered the freebie(?) Hospital socks. As I’ve got a 100 pairs at home I turn them down.
great read … haven’t seen something like that here on the board in ages … - my kids are about that age which makes it both interesting and somewhat worrisome for me …
nowadays the colonoscopy/how-many-pills-x-day/rants are pretty much the par for the course …
collective Q: was there a romantic dating thread in all of 2023?
When I’m 93 and my wife has passed away, I’ll be sure to start a thread about romantic adventures at the assisted-living facility.
Can I brag? My leopard-print jammie bottoms have pockets.
I occasionally wear them on weekends, if my pants drawer is getting low, and I’m willing to wear them in the front yard, if I have to get something from the car. I’ll also go to drive-thrus wearing them.
I was gonna say you can get them with pockets.
If they lack pockets I have a hoodie on usually.
Are you in the north east part of the US? I don’t think pajama pants in public is that common in the north west part of the US unlike the north east part of the US where it is more common there.
The north west part of the US speak in different accent than the north east part of the US so the culture is very different. When the British took over the US and there was war between the US and British did it lot war drafters who did not want to fight moved to the north west part of the US.
The same with the Vietnam war?
Not true.
Those are really cool looking - thanks for the link!
… damn. No pockets.
As for the O.P. hell, I’m in my 40s and routinely wear PJ pants to work.
And get compliments!
They’re in good shape, and some even have a reasonably flattering fit. I like fun prints and pretty colors, so may of them feature those - and the best ones have pockets!
These are one of my favorites - mine are purple tie dye

We were doing that in the 80’s. Sometimes you just needed a break from those super-tight jeans. It was also a really cheap way to expand your wardrobe. Go to the men’s dept. at Lord and Taylor or Hecht’s and grab a five pack of assorted boxers and a three-pack of assorted PJ pants. Pay your $16. Go home and sew up the flies and you were set for shorts and pants for a while. Well, you needed some blue jeans too, but you know.
Oversized sweatshirt, flannel PJ pants and a pony tail was the preppy girl’s Monday morning uniform.
When Celtling was a toddler (late aughts) I got funny looks a few times at the grocery store in flannel pants and crocs. F 'em. If you don’t know what it’s like trying to get groceries with a toddler I don’t need your opinion.
I never wore PJs / lounge pants to class in college in Pennsylvania, but many did, especially for the 8 am classes. If you’re living on campus, going to the library, class or the canteen is just like an extension of your dorm.
When I’m in the US, I see adults wearing sweat pants to the grocery store, and sometimes even people wearing curlers. Here in Switzerland, I rarely see anybody wearing sweat pants at the store, or even at the bakery.
I don’t dress up when I go to the store, but I do avoid going to the store in the same clothes I use to work in the garden or clean. In the US I would probably go to the grocery store in my housework clothes and not even think about it.
Today I am staying home. I am wearing a t-shirt and leggings (with pockets, of course). I could go for a walk with this outfit, and I could go to the farmer stand. If I wanted to go to the grocery store, bakery or restaurant, I would put on jeans.
Its not just kids. Its been a few years but I saw a guy who to be at least 30 wearing flannel PJ pants and a leather athletic coat of some sort in a convenience store.
I hate when that happens.
Not sure what you mean are you saying people wearing pajama pants in public is more noticeable in the UK than the US?
No.
