Damn senior citizens.
Drives away very fast at a responsible speed.
This isn’t the first I’m hearing of this so it’s not news to me. What I have read is that certain car manufactures are worse than others. Given a car is the second most expensive thing most people will ever buy I’d like to know what I’m buying. Is there any way to get these T&C ahead of time to review them before buying a car? One gets all the docs for a home purchase in advance to review & decide if you want to go forward with it - is there a HOA, what does it do/govern, etc. From what I’ve heard, Honda is particularly bad. Their T&C might be enough to rule their vehicles out from the get-go, before even bothering to do a test drive or an online configuration to see if I can get what I want from them. I don’t want to have to read a multi-page doc on a infotainment screen after I’ve made settlement.
I firmly believe the best way to avoid getting a ticket is to not get pulled over in the first place; however, it’s amazing, it seems every pair of shoes that I own has some lead in the right foot. I may, occasionally (but only very occasionally) go over the speed limit but no so fast as to stick out to the guys with guns, badges, ticket books & whoop-de-whoops on their roofs/in their grills but I’m sure to those insurance trackers I’m an absolute menace to society.
Here’s a more recent NYT article about it (gift link):
The feds have politely warned the automotive industry that they may be compelled to issue a stern warning.
