Is your internet being hacked..I bet it is..here's the site to find out

I personally passed all the tests on this website…full stealth mode…

If you don’t pass the test try blackice or zone alarm 2.0…get the last laugh at these hackers…

What are you all doing on my internet? I don’t remember authorizing this! Go, shoo!

I should of clarified my first post…the link I posted takes you to a site that will test your ports on your computer to see if your vulnerable…thats all…try it…and let me know what kind of results you got…it might take a few minutes depending on what kind of modem. The only vulnerability the site found was they could see my i.p which isn’t that big of a deal…anyways…hope you dopers pass the test…ciao for now

get mikie in here

I had an open port, but then I took the advice on the site and dled ZoomAlarm and now I have full stealth mode as well.

A good list of internet security sites can be found at http://www.virtualsurreality.com/html/index.htm .
The Shields Up test at http://grc.com/default.htm is very good. A better test, only usable by computers with permanent connections (cable modems, etc.) can be found at http://www.secure-me.net/ .
Zone Alarm (found at http://www.zonelabs.com/ is a very good tool for protecting your connected machine. It’s a very strong firewall and the price (free) can’t be beat.

If you’re not part of the solution you’re just scumming up the bottom of the beaker.

not bad…most people fail that test miserably…you might wanna check out blackice…I heard its pretty good, i’m currently using zone alarm myself, and I have no complaints and no more port scans from goofy hackers

thanks prairie rose, I wasn’t aware of that cable modem test site…gonna go check that out right now

I checked this out a few weeks ago and was told I had an open port, but it was then admitted that said port wasn’t a risk anyway. I can’t say I’m too worried.

Programs designed to report port scans tend to freak people out since most of the time, it’s not a hacker attack but a benign attempt at a connection. Many port scan detectors are just now starting to be designed where the report suspicious scans instead of each and every scan.

I’m sorry, I can’t let this pass.

It’s HAVE - should HAVE. If you want to abbreviate, should’ve.

Now, back to the show.

A URL like https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
gives me the creeps.

Why not just drop to DOS & use netstat?

http://www.grc.com is a great way to see where your vulnerabilities are (though if you dial up, you’re in less trouble than if you’re always on).

I installed Zonealarm on my computer at work this week, just for the hell of it. I was surprised to find I got 3-4 attempts this week of someone trying to probe my computer.

Zone Alarm? We were discussing that the other day & it appears to be one of those programs that does not uninstall everthing. In other words, it leaves some DLLs [two, I think] that new programs could use to access your computer. Ill try to find out if this is actually the case.
