Isaiah Washington is a braying jackass.

I believe George Lopez blamed the cancellation of his TV show on racism.
On Edit

Here we go from wiki:

Me personally, I’m not sure what its best called, but its insulting for him to imply that whites under 60 or so would still expect blacks to act to this way. That went out several decades ago.

I just read the whole article and love this gem-

“If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey, Jr. (do)”

Uh, genius, he didn’t get to go back to the job(s) he fucked up on, such as Ally McBeal- he got fired from those and stayed fired, and then he got new jobs, just as you will. You can even get one run by a fellow black, so you won’t have to worry about the man firing you being a man anymore.

But what if the guy in charge is not, you know, tall?

So that’s what you’re coming this weekend? Go on wit’ yo bad self. And pay me when you can.

Li’l Pluck, I meant “calling it this weekend.” F-ing slow dope, sucking up my editing time.

Coming this fall to the CW, Brown and Browner.

But that’s the thing. The creator and producer of Grey’s Anatomy is a black woman named Shonda Rhimes. Now I don’t know if the decision to fire him was left up to her, but my guess is that she didn’t argue against it. So is she racist also?

Okay, I read this, and I thought to myself, “Shit, maybe he knows something that I don’t, 'cause as I far as I know, I haven’t *come * anything this weekend. Yet.”

(Yeah, I know–TMI, but we’re all adults here.)

Then I saw your clarification:

And I was, like, “Ohhh… .” Yeah, I got nothing, dude.

Thanks, pool.

I hadn’t heard about that. No surprise, of course, considering that I am (usually) blissfully out of touch with much of what goes on in Hollywood.

And, caveman?

I see your point, Wee Bairn, but I honestly don’t believe that he’s totally out of bounds in implying that Whites under 60 years of age expect Blacks to act as modern day Stepin Fetchits. Or, rather, *not * to act, as the case may be.

Granted, it may not be as prevalent today as it was “decades ago,” but I (and, I bet, many other Blacks who are used to operating among various strata of society) am not prepared to concede that the expectation no longer exists, not even among younger Whites.

I assure you that the concept of the “uppity Negro” is alive and well, even in 2007.

Geico Cavemen Show

Oh, yes, thanks. I do recall hearing something recently along this line.

I thought the first commercial was brilliant (looking forward to ordering roast duck with mango salsa myself–eventually)–and I cracked up every time it came on TV–but I must say, it’ll be interesting to see how/if they’ll be able to parlay that into a successful (by Hollywood standards) sitcom. I’m thinking that I might try to check it out when it comes on next fall.*

*As long as there’s no conflict with “60 Minutes,” “Housewives,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “E.R.,” “Grey’s (a shame that the “Burke” character is gone–fuckin’ idiot Washington),” and “20/20”.

Did anyone else catch the interview with him on Larry King last evening? He had this smug smarmy grin on his face the entire time, the kind your mum would slap off your face. He also seems to be quite the name dropper and braggart, qualities not often seen in a macho adult male. He admits that going to counseling was his idea, not the shows, and also claims to have tried to resign from the show, twice!

The high point was Mr. Smug pulling out the shit eating grin when Larry asked him if he thought the firing was racist- he drank some water, flashed the grin and said nothing, like he was now taking the high road, and later added that the gay guy (name?)was the one who should have been fired. Anyone with a clue asking that question, would obviously be fishing for a good quote. Larry obviously has no idea whats going on the world (I doubt he knew who this guy was) and looked proud, like he thought he was the first person to ever ask that of him and was a genius for doing so.

Okay, I’ll step out on that limb. Where would you *normally * find this qualities? Please say, in the context of this thread especially, you meant “mature,” and not “macho.”

(tunes back into thread)

So, um, George Lopez’s show was “important”, was it? That’s…I’m just gonna say “Interesting”.

Mature, grown-up, adult- any of these would have been better choices.

Phewwww!! (Takes out lace hanky and wipes brow)
