As far as I know, yeah, that’s pretty much the deal.
While their actions tend to speak for themselves, is there an ISIS-produced document or set of documents which clearly explains their ideology and goals? A constitution, a manifesto, a set of rules and regulations…?
Does al-Baghdadi and his boys issue fatwas or communiques or such, which can be said to be official ISIS statements?
If so, does any of these specifically address the question of what should be done about those of us who do not count as “People Of The Book”?
Well, they not choosy about race is why. They have at least one ginger German jihadi.
Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,
Qur’an 9:29
Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.
Qur’an 9:5
And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves.
O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination.
Apart from that ?
What do you mean by “apart from that”? I’d say 5 is enough.
Was more looking for how ISIS takes verses out of context than how westerners do, really.
What’s your average ISIS guy saying about all this ?
Well, I found them on google by typing “isis quran quotes” and got the following results.
But of course you have to be careful in such searches. I try not to, in recent threads, I try not to post any “anti muslim” passages without first seeing if they say the same thing on this website. In other words, if I read on Wikipedia or an anti-muslim site that “Mohammed says not to eat pigs but you can eat all the beef you want”, I won’t post that here unless the wording on quran.com is almost identical to the other source.
I preferred Cannibal Corpse.
It was a big step forward from their early release, Girls Not On Film. Didn’t live up to New Religion, though (hey, I didn’t even have to change that one!)
I’m guessing here, but maybe the hundreds of millions are the ones who don’t agree to convert in the face of ISIS’ global conquest or whatever.
Exhume to consume.
My understanding is that at least at the moment their primary motivations are: (1). Abolishing nationalism in the Middle East and having everyone claiming to be a Muslim to acknowledge a single authority, the Caliphate. (2). Eliminate the apostate secularlsts who question this goal.
“Hungary Like the Gulf” is my personal favorite.
Beheadings on Film.
ISIS is the same as any other cult. It’s all about power. Religious violence and pogroms are just the method by which this is accomplished. ISIS must necessarily purge all competing ideologies, even Sunni Muslims, because their system of control doesn’t work when competing ideas are allowed to exist. It’s the same reason every cult makes its members cut off contact with the outside world. Why do you think young Mormons are initiated by sending them off to foreign countries where they’re not allowed to contact their parents and have to rely on other Mormons for survival? It’s the same mentality at work.
And FWIW, defectors who come back from ISIS express disgust at how ISIS treats other Sunni Muslims, but don’t express any empathy for Christians and non-Sunni Muslims. Most of them would happily keep on killing non-Sunnis if ISIS had met their expectations.
