In Iraq, Republicans are standing by the President more than anyone else.
In any case, the biggest advantage of having a Democratic President is that we have a unified country when we go to war.
Your knowledge of political history and warfare in the U.S. is really poor.
In regards to Iraq, we’re more unified than ever for this second round. Do you think that would be the case if Romney had ordered these actions?
You’re trying to make it sound like Democrats are more hypocritical about following their leader’s decisions against apparent ideology than Republicans are, and that’s just naive and stupid.
Not to the point of raising his voice or anything, of course.
If it was just this, I’d say maybe it’s the plight of Iraq’s minorities. But the NSA thing, Democrats were more supportive than Republicans OR independents!
No, but “no place in the 21st century” is about the most forceful liberal code phrase imaginable. Liberals hate reactionary ideologies.
Not all of them. It’s not like “independent” is a club with secret handshakes or something. Like a political party.
Not to mention if independents were conservative Republicans, Democrats would get blown out in every election.
Independents are conservatives who pretend they never were Republicans. Or at least not lately…
Or at any rate that they never voted for Reagan.
Shouldn’t they?
Shouldn’t you?
Don’t forget, there are also independents to the left of the Dems.
The kind that involves enslavement of women, beheading of unbelievers, trying to turn the clock back to 700 AD, yeah, everyone in the West should be against that.
However, not all reactionary ideology is bad. The kind that opposed Communism was just dandy. Not all that’s new and progressive is good. Anytime you are trying to move forward you sometimes end up in a dark alley. Sometimes you push through that dark alley to get to light, but sometimes it’s better to just go back and try a different path.
We can disagree on whether 20th century progressivism was a positive thing, but one thing I’d hope we all agree on is that we’re not getting rid of the Enlightenment or the Renaissance.
Tailgunner Joe and HUAC were “just dandy?”
No, but JFK and Ike were just fine reactionaries against Communism, as was the American labor movement.
Returning directly to the thread topic, did the ISIS goons goof with Foley’s execution by standing out in the open for the deed?
Considering the rather distinctive color of the solid orange jumpsuit, right next to the solid black wannabe ninja outfit, and all the satellites that must be pointed in that general direction in broad daylight, shouldn’t it be fairly simple to do an automated search through the satellite data to try to locate that site?
Not if it leads to something like the Smith Act Trials.
Not sure what the point is here. 99% of America opposed Communism. THe fact that some overreacted is unfortunate, but normal. There isn’t an enemy in the world we haven’t overreacted to at some point.
